  • - 2014 GRO
    • Important Dates
      • April 4, 2014, 9:00 A.M. Korea Standard Time (UTC+9) : Post GRO Call For Proposal on Web
      • April 14, 2014 : Web submission starts
      • June 13, 2014, 9:00 A.M. Korea Standard Time (UTC+9) : Deadline for submission
      • Beginning of August, 2014 : Notification of award decisions begins
      • SAMSUNG will make award announcements beginning of August, 2014
  • - Program Awards
    • Awards under the 2014 GRO Program are intended to provide contract-based financial support for selected research projects.
    • Awards will be made in cash and provided in the range of UCD $70,000 to $100,000 including reasonable overhead. (However, SAMSUNG may choose, in some cases, to make larger awards for outstanding proposals)
    • Awards may be renewed up to three(3) years, based on project duration, research outcomes and SAMSUNG's business needs.
    • The GRO Program details are provided below.
    • All proposals must be received no later than 9:00 AM Korea Standard Time (UTC+9), June 13, 2014
    • Supported projects will need to execute GRO Research Agreement ("RA") documents within 2 months from the date of award announcement unless award can be canceled.Supported projects will be expected to begin on September 1, 2014 for the best.
  • - 2014 GRO Research Subjects
    • 2014 GRO Program is seeking proposals in twelve (12) Research Themes.
    • Under the research themes, there are forty (40) special subjects for this year. However other subjects are also welcome.    
    • Details are described in the "2014 GRO Research Subject Description" documents.

  • - Eligibility for Participation & Awards
    • To be eligible for an award under the GRO Program, university shall accept GRO RA as part of the proposal-submission process.
      Initial acceptance by the applicant's authorized official of the universitie is accomplished through submission of GRO RA Acceptance Letter without any modifications. GRO RA Acceptance Letter also confirms that no confidential or proprietary information will be included in submitted proposals. SAMSUNG will treat all information submitted in proposals as non-confidential and non-proprietary.
      Universities selected for awards shall also sign GRO RA documents before award processing.
      If the university wants to review GRO RA before submission, detailed GRO RA can be sent via email upon request of authorized official of the universitie.
      SAMSUNG values the personal information of its applicants and strives to protect each applicant's personal information. Also SAMSUNG adheres to all applicable laws and regulations including the Personal Information Protection Act of Korea. To be eligible, applicant(s) shall consent to the collection and/or use of its/their personal information in accordance with the Korean law, "Personal Information Protection Act" (the "PIPA").

  • - Submission
  •     Applicants shall submit the following two(2) documents:
    • 1. Research Proposal ("Research Project Specification")
      • Proposals recommended to be no longer than 10 pages;
      • additional pages may be used for supporting figures, images, data or other documentation.
      • Proposals expected to provide answers, in English, in MS Word format only.
      • Please refer "Proposal Guide & Format" document for more details (Recommended file name of proposal : 2014 GRO_Theme Title_Subject Title_PI University name_PI Last name', e.g. "2014 GRO_Medical Technology_Ultrasound RF Signal_Stanford_Smith")
      • For CV, provide a 1 to 2 page CV for the Principal Investigator, any Co-Principal Investigator, and the proposed graduate student. Please, attach all CVs at the end of Research Proposal.

    • 2. Signed 2014 GRO RA Acceptance Letter
      • To be eligible, applicants shall submit an unmodified Acceptance Letter which is completed and signed by an authorized contract official of the university.
