 from domestic universities

Samsung Electronics hosted the "Solid-State Batteries Forum" at Samsung Electronics-Seoul National University Research Center, which is attracting attention as a promising technology in the future.

In this forum, which was held from the theme 'From Theory To Practicality', World-class scholars and industry experts including Professor Lee Se-hee of Columbia University and Vice President of Toyota Motor Research Institute looked over the present and the future of next generation battery from various perspectives.

This forum is an open forum where not only scholars and business experts in the field but also external researchers registered in advance such as professors and students can participate in the forum. Approximately 100 outsiders participated in this program.

Samsung Electronics also held a poster session and awarded excellent posters to encourage active participation of domestic university students.

In particular, all solid-state batteries focused on this forum are considered to be essential elements for electric vehicles because they are more resistant to heat and external impact than existing LIB (Li-ion batteries).

Professor Lee Se-hee, who lectured on the technology trends and prospects of all solid-state batteries, said, "Interfacial resistance, which is a typical problem of all solid-state cells, can be solved by new coating technology and mass production process will become a major technology issue of all solid state batteries in the future ".

Lee Sang-yoon, director of the Materials Research Center of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, said, "I hope this forum will be an opportunity for information exchange in battery research and thus, the research will be more active”

On the other hand, from 2017 onwards, Samsung Electronics is opening the Future Technology Forum on the theme of AI and QD to the public. In the second half of this year, AI Forum will be held from September 12th to September 13th followed by next year.
