- Abstract
To bring in augmented reality (AR) into head-up displays someone needs to cover field-of-view (FoV) and match distance of virtual object with real scene. Waveguide-based pupil replication provides wide FoV while keeping small volume. To improve distance matching while using this technique, we introduce architecture to implement stereoscopy-based 3D virtual image. Particular system is implemented in time-sequential mode with synchronized units for multi-view picture generation and eyebox formation. We developed simulation setup to prove our system feasibility. Thereby, we achieved FoV of 15°×7.5° with clear crosstalk-less image with resolution of 60pix/deg for each eye. Moreover, we built actual proof-of-concept prototype and discussed further development direction.
