- Abstract
The origin of multiband charge density waves (CDWs) in NbTe2 was examined using low temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS) and microscopy. A (3×1) commensurate CDW and (1×9/2) incommensurate CDW were newly identified and characterized. Momentum-specific suppression of the spectral weight related to the CDWs was observed at multiple energies. By com paring the unusual energy-dependent amplitude and phase of CDWs in STS measurements with a simulation, we showed that Fermi surface nesting and reconstruction of the reciprocal lattice play a key role in forming multiband CDWs in NbTe2.
