Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a regression model to estimate HRLT (heart rate at lactate threshold) and HRVT (heart rate at lactate threshold) using HRT (heart rate threshold) and to test the validity of the regression model.
Method: We performed graded exercise test using treadmill in 220 ordinary people (male: 112 and female: 108) aged 20 to 59. In all participants, HRT and heart rate at lactate threshold and ventilatory threshold were measured. Then, a regression model was developed to estimate HRLT and HRVT using HRT with 70% data (male: 79, female: 76) by randomization (7:3) with Bernoulli trial, and the validity of the regression model developed with the remaining 30% of the data (male: 33 and female: 32) was examined.
Results: As a result, we found that the regression coefficient of the independent variable HRT is a significant variable in all regression models; Adjusted R-squared of the developed regression models averaged about 70% and the standard error of estimate the validity test results was 11 bpm, which is the same level as the developed model.
Conclusion: These results suggest that HRT is a very useful parameter for predicting HRLT and HRVT.
