HSA Foundation Announces Six New Members

- ISVs and chip design companies add to thevalue chain to bring power-efficient HSA processing capabilities to market -

AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 31, 2012 - Today the Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) Foundationannounced six new members. The HSA Foundation is pleased to welcome Apical, ArterisInc., MulticoreWare Inc., Sonics, Symbio and Vivante Corporation to the membership roster. Each company adds expertise tothe HSA ecosystem by assisting with research, development, production, manufacture, use, and the sale of HSA IP and heterogeneous computing softwareand solutions.

These new members have joined atdifferent levels including: supporter, contributor and associate. Workingclosely with the founder members of AMD, ARM, ImaginationTechnologies, MediaTek Inc., SamsungElectronics and Texas Instruments (TI), the newmembers will contribute to the growing adoption of HSA in heterogeneouscomputing.

“As the wordgets out about the HSAFoundation, we’re experiencing a groundswell of support from a wide range ofcompanies that are interested in power-efficiency and heterogeneous computing,”said Greg Stoner, vice president and managing director of the HSA Foundation.“HSA will enable the next era of computing from mobile and embedded to HPC andcloud computing, but it requires having a full value chain in place fromsilicon to IP to ISVs.”

About the HSAFoundation

The HSA (Heterogeneous SystemArchitecture) Foundation is a not-for-profit consortium for SoC IP vendors,OEMs, academia, SoC vendors, OSVs and ISVs whose goal is to make it easy toprogram for parallel computing. HSA members are building a heterogeneous computeecosystem, rooted in industry standards, for combining scalar processing on theCPU with parallel processing on the GPU while enabling high bandwidth access tomemory and high application performance at low power consumption. HSA definesinterfaces for parallel computation utilizing CPU, GPU and other programmableand fixed function devices, and support for a diverse set of high-levelprogramming languages, thereby creating the next foundation in general purposecomputing.
